Description
~ Opalite cab ~

Offered here is a unique cabochon of opalite, from the Brush-Wellman beryllium mine in Utah (now closed to any and all collecting). Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and even 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's certainly gorgeous stuff! I'm told this rare opal gets its beautiful purple coloration from fluorite. This richly colored example has both light and dark shades of purple, with accenting patches of palest peach and mauve adding oodles of extra character. It's a show-stopping cab that will contrast beautifully with either gold or silver, for an heirloom quality piece of wearable art. It has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, a graceful designer 'paisley' shape you'll have fun with, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.

Size: 54x19mm
Weight: approximately 45 carats
