Flame agate cab ~
Here is a cabochon of brilliant flame agate, from Mexico. This stone was cut from grand old stock material, none too easy to come by these days. It features the more mossy flame-like plumes in very appropriate reddish hues, some of which is brighter crimson, and some deep dark red. There's a small sparkly patch beneath the surface, adding to the stone's character. The background agate is nicely translucent, as illustrated by the backlit photo, so you'll definitely want to show it off in an open backed setting. The cab has a low rounded dome of 4+mm, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
