Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Utah's fossilized dinosaur bone. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this gemmy bone have been completely replaced with translucent, red and reddish orange agate, leaving an intricate lattice of golden tan webbing. Several of the cells are very interestingly fortified, resembling tiny banded thundereggs. Even though it's substantially thick, the stone shows a great degree of translucence and depth, as illustrated by the backlit photo. No doubt it'll create a fabulous item jewelry that is literally a piece of the past! This gorgeous cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
