Rhyolite cab ~
Here is a cabochon of orbicular rhyolite, from Nevada. This material goes by several names, including spiderwebbed rhyolite, but no matter what you prefer to call it, I really like the stuff! This example has a few partial orbs, with a nice showing of attractive crackly webbing. For accuracy's sake, I do need to mention that one pink line is somewhat undercut, though it is not overly distracting. I think it will make a most interesting item of jewelry. The stone has a low rounded dome of 4mm, a sleek designer shape, nicely polished both front and back.
