Parrot wing jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of old stock parrot wing jasper, from Mexico. This delightful jasperized chrysocolla is becoming very difficult to find, unlike the more common copper complexes so often substituted for it and erroneously dubbed 'parrot wing'. This is the real deal, folks. It features a mottled pattern of turquoise blues and greens, with some veining and patches of red and tiny flecks of sky blue. There's a small drusy pocket at one side too, edged with fortifications. It's easily as vivid as the photos depict, but leaning a bit more toward blue colors. I really enjoy cabbing this classic material for use in my own jewelry; it's strikingly colored, and there's seldom any difficulty achieving a smooth, glossy shine. The cab has a rounded dome of 5mm, a sleek designer shape, and it is polished both front and back.
