Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been replaced with various shades of agate, including reddish orange, yellow, and yellow-green, some of which show interesting fortification bandings. Each cell is framed by a web of the actual cell walls, now jet black, forever frozen in time. For the sake of accuracy, I do need to mention that there is a slight degree of pitting in this stone, and some odd undercut hairlines, but the cab is thoroughly sound nonetheless. And very beautiful!!The cab has a high and well rounded dome of 6.5mm, and it's polish both front and back.
