Deschutes jasper cab ~
Offered here we have a very interesting cabochon of Deschutes jasper, from Oregon. A long time favorite in the celebrated family of porcelain jaspers, this classic old material has become quite collectibly rare these days. This cabochon features a remarkable pattern in rich earthy tones of peachy tans and reddish browns, with some jet black dendrites. Showing it around produced many impressions from those who saw something in the stone: One fellow thought it looked like an earthen igloo, another saw a blind teddy bear, and still others claimed to see a crashed flying saucer! I just see a mighty nice stone... but what do you see?? The cab has a very high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a crisply bold designer shape that enhances the jasper's pattern very nicely, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 38x28mm
Weight: approximately 36 carats
