Rutilated quartz cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of rutilated quartz, from Brazil. This is another cut by my son Christoper, whose lapidary skills are really coming right along. The stone features clear quartz and plenty of bright golden needles of rutile, some bunched, and others scattered like jackstraws. This one shows a few of the typical 'fairy frost' inclusions within the stone. The 'spun gold' rutile has lots of sparkle and gleam, and I think it would look particularly attractive shown off in most any open backed setting. The cab has a well rounded dome of 4+mm, and a brilliantly glassy 'wet ice' polish both front and back.
