Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Utah's fossilized dinosaur bone. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this gemmy bone have been completely replaced with translucent reddish orange agate, leaving only a lattice of golden tan webbing. Several of the larger cells are very interestingly fortified, resembling tiny banded thundereggs. The stone has several cells that show a nice degree of translucence and depth, but I was not able to capture a decent backlit photo. No doubt it'll create a fabulous item jewelry that is literally a piece of the past! This gorgeous cab has a well rounded dome of 5+, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
